The latest

I have been thinking about going back to work for awhile now but I didn’t plan on looking until the end of summer since Maddie will be in school all day next year.   Of course I wanting something that would give me weekends and holidays off and days would be a bonus!  A few weeks ago my old job called me back and asked if I wanted my job back.  I had to think about it for a bit, talked to my husband and he said it sounded good and I should take it.  Besides it was something I knew, already knew the people and the routine.  The only down side is that it is from 2p-11p Monday thru Friday.  It was a hard decision for me to make.  After being home with Maddie for the past four years, not really having a schedule and just crafting, playing, learning and fighting… I really didn’t want to take it.  I wanted to stay home this summer and play in the pool everyday and have fun!  Well… hubby has been working so hard these past 4 years, being the only bread winner, doing well and not struggling but there are always those thoughts of what if?  He seemed really relieved when I told him about it so I decided to take it.

It is going to be so hard and Maddie will now be going to daycare.  Her school provides a daycare which is good and they even have it during the summer times which is better!  They are also close, 10 min walking distance and only a minute or 2 driving and it is on the way to work.  That is what made us decide to go with them.  Maddie is excited about going and then the next minute she is telling me she doesn’t want me to get a job, that dad already has one and mommy’s are supposed to stay at home with the kids!  Smart girl… knows how to tug at my momma’s heart.

I start on Monday and she will be going to daycare on Monday as well.  They will let me come up and sit/eat lunch with her and I am very thankful for that.  I will be doing that for the first week or so or until she tells me to stop.  I will only see her maybe an hour in the morning and an hour at lunch, then the times she lets me sit with her at lunch time.  This is going to be hard on all of us!  Maddie and I at separating from each other, Shane and I not seeing each other much either, about the same amount of hours as Maddie, and then hard on him having to take over all the parenting rolls in the evening time.  Praying this all works out and it is God’s plan!

Just wanted to let you all know so when you see days… well weeks since I already go days without posting you will know why.

I’m scared but ready for this new journey to begin!

Here’s some more pictures from the weekend and then this week.

Cheri Hat

I saw this darling little hat on Ravelry and just had to make it!  I used sugar and cream, but I ran out of the rose color pink and neither Wal-mart I went to had it anymore.. neither did Hobby Lobby.  So… thankfully I ran out when I was coming to the brim.  I used a hot pink for that.  I think it came out pretty cute!  I still have to make a flower for it too.

Here’s the picture..

I have been making up some key chains and coffee cozies lately.  Today I thought I would share my Owl Key Chain pattern with you.
I saw this little owl on Pinterest, but the link took me to Etsy.  I can’t remember if it was for the pattern or the owl, but it was sold.  I loved the little own and thought I could come up with something similar.  I decided to make a small one and then I made it so that I could stuff it and make it into a key chain.
One of my friends also liked them but she suggested leaving it unstuffed and using it as a pouch for her keys.  I made hers a little bigger and added a snap to it.
This one is the one I added the snap to.

and here’s another one.. my first one I made, which of course Mad took!

Ok… and here is the pattern, please bare with me, it is only the 2nd one I have actually written down and shared.  I hope you will be able to understand it.

Owl Key Chain
Hook-F  Done in rounds
  • Ch. 2
  • 6 sc in the 2nd chain from the hook
  • 2 sc in each (12)
  • 1 sc in next stitch, then 2 in next sc (18)
  • sc in next 2 stitches then 2 sc in next stitch (24)
  • sc in the next 3 stitches, 2 sc in next (30)
  • Rounds 7-17 sc in each stitch
  • Round 18- sc next 3 stitches, then sc2tg in next, dc next 4 stitches, sc next 3 stitches, sc2tg, 2 times, dc next 4 stitches, sc next 2 stitches
  • fasten off tail, long enough to sew.
  • add your felt eyes, and safety eyes or google eyes, beak and wings
  • stuff and stitch the top closed.

Wings- now this is a little different… with the smaller yarn it worked fine, but when I started using the sugar and cream I had to adjust it.  Just play around with it

Wings (smaller size yarn)
  • sc 4
  • 2 dc in 2nd ch. from hook, hdc in next ch, 3 sc in last stitch, working on opposite side of foundation chain, hdc in next hdc, 2 dc in next ch.  Join with slip stitch.  Fasten off with long enough tail to sew to body
Wings (larger yarn)  (just play with it… Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t and I would do it different each time)
  • sc 10
  • 2 dc in 2nd ch from hook
  • dc in next 4 stitches, hdc in next 3 stitches, 3 sc in last stitch, working on opposite side of fdc, hdc in next 3 hdc, then dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in last stitch.  Join with slip stitch and fasten off, leaving tail to sew onto body.

The wings are basically a leaf pattern, so if you can’t understand my instructions you can search for a leaf pattern.  lol  Or wing pattern.. However you want to do it!

I hope you all have fun, would love to see yours if you make one!
