Rambling Thursday

Been a great week so far. Maddie has finally been helping clean up and listening a little better. Only thing is she has been waking up before 6a because she has wet the bed. She hasn't had accidents in a LONG time.

My mom got me some of the Pace Fitness Athletic shoes from Payless. Of course I had to get the men's since the women's don't come big enough so they are extra ugly but they are actually really comfortable. Takes a bit to get used to the rocking but not long. So on Monday Maddie and I went for a short mile walk and then later on in the day it was still nice so we walked to the store. I asked her if she wanted to go because this was a long walk and she said she did. We have done this walk before but just to a different store but it is the same distance, 1 mile each way. Usually she runs the first part and will walk back the rest. She did pretty well this time, it had been a while since we have walked it, but she started saying she couldn't go on. I told her she had no other choice if she wanted to get back home. She sucked it up and did it but I had to carry her a little ways, 40lbs starts to get heavy after a few blocks. The shoes were still very comfortable and I could actually feel it too. Ugly, ugly shoes but very, very comfy!
We also did the crafts for Crafty Tuesday on Monday.

Tuesday we didn't do much, played around some, read some books, had some lunch then had a little ice cream, went for another walk, picked some berries, Mad had about 4 or 5 of 'em and then we got back into the pool. Mad was in her little tube and was spinning around so fast that when she stopped her eyes were still wiggling! lol Hadn't seen that since she was really little and her daddy would spin her. I told her she needed to stop for a bit and she did but then she had to do it again. She did it for awhile and then she stopped and told me she didn't want to do it anymore so she stopped, hoped on me and said her belly hurt, next thing I know she threw up all over me!! The stinkiest puck I have ever smelled!!! I hung her over the edge so she could finish and then lifted her out of the pool to go sit down and clean off.

I cleaned myself off the best I could but stayed in and cleaned the pool the best I could. I kept smelling it and when I got out it had all got stuck on the inside of my bathing suit between the big girls, ugh!! Stinky and nasty!! Berry pieces every where! Hosed us off again and finally got in the shower. I told her she needed to go get a drink, she had some sprite, I told her that might help her tummy feel better. She told me, 'So does puking' lol When I called my mom to tell her about it I asked Mad if she felt better and she said, "Yes I do because I puked on you!" Here's a video of her spinning, not sure why the video is so awful, sorry about that.  Maybe I asked for it since I had to get the video.  lol  She still spun for about 5 or 10 more minutes! (oh, Mr. Noodle is her imaginary friend.  Think she got it from Sesame Street, Elmo has a friend named Mr. Noodle)

Wednesday was Story Time at the library. Everyone was dressing up as pirates they were all so cute! So glad I made that stuff for Maddie awhile back. Just had to find it and make another eye patch. It is the last day of the Summer Reading Program. She got her shirt last week for reading her 20 books she was so proud!

After story time she had a little friend over to swim in the pool. We met B. and his mom Kayce at Story Time and they hit it off.   First time they have done anything together though but they had a great time!!  We grilled up some burgers and hot dogs and then we went swimming, they didn't eat much so this time Mad didn't get sick!  =)

After we ate we headed out back, B. had brought Mad some little poppers so they popped those before getting in the pool.  B. had some float wings he was wearing and he did so well!  Jumping off the ladder like a big boy and even going under.  His mom would toss him across the pool and he would love it!  Come up laughing and saying, "I went way under!!"  He had swimming lessons a few weeks ago and it was only for a week but he does so well!!  Wish Mad would wear her wings but she says they hurt so she had me throw them away.  They were getting really hard to put on her too.  She just uses her tube for now and is starting to 'swim' with that.  Still working on the going under water.  She just absolutely refuses to do.  Some days I want to press harder about it but I just let it go because I don't really want to scare her.  After swimming they came in and had some ice cream.  We were all worn out!  I am hoping Maddie will slept well tonight.  (sorry no pictures, I was too busy playing with them =)  I did get some from story time though.)

This is the shirt she got for reading her books for the Summer Reading Program.
And here's just some I thought were cute.

Ms. Sam, Mad & B.

They had to follow Ms. Sam on a treasure hunt.  She had a map and they had to follow her to get to the treasure.

The treasure was books!!!

It was a great week so far! (except for the throwing up part. lol)

Rambling Thursday

Pin It Where to even start for this week?  Let's see, it started to rain pretty well on Sunday evening and then rained ALL day Monday!  We got about 6" and the river ended up flooding on Tuesday.  So glad that I am home with her now because if I needed to get to the other side of town it is such a pain! About 2 years ago we had to go either down a nasty washed out dirt road or around through the other town and back.  At least we didn't get as much as Edmond or the OKC did. Monday night they said they had around 10" and it still rained all night.

Been working so hard with Maddie to learn her ABC's and she just flat out refuses!  I have tried pretty much everything I can think of.  She has a little LeapFrog Scribble and Write LeapFrog Scribble and Write and she will do that but if you ask her what the letter is she can't tell you.  I have tried flash cards for about a year but that hasn't worked either.  I held up 'A' and she couldn't even tell me what that was!  The rest of the day didn't go to well either because I wouldn't let her watch anything but her LeapFrog - Letter Factory for the rest of the day.  Yeah, I'm a mean mom!  I just don't know any other way to get her to learn them!
LeapFrog - Letter Factory

On Wed I did try something a little different though.  I only used 'A, B, C & D' and put them out on the table and asked her to hand me 'C' and she did!  She got all of them right about 90% of the time!!  I think I am going to keep doing it like that for awhile and then either keep adding more or just go on to the next four until she can do them pretty well and then do eight together and go from there.  Crossing my fingers that she keeps doing well with it this way.   I know she is a smart little thing because she comes up with all sorts of songs and stories all the time.

We did do some craft though on Tuesday which I posted here.  Tried to give her a little break from learning.  If it's crafts she loves to do it!  I have even tried to do crafty ABC stuff and nope won't do it.  =(

Wednesday we went to the library for Story Time and the craft they always do.  She loves going to that.  Today they read books with ducks as the little characters so they made a little duckie craft. They also gave everyone a cute little book too!  Oh, and I also forgot I had ordered another shirt for her from them so we got that too!  It's really cute and is the Alice & Wonderland theme that say's, "the Wonder of Reading"  She will also be getting a free t-shirt through the Summer reading Program since she/we have read her 20 books.  Gotta love the Guthrie Public Library!  Here are some pics of Mad at Story Time, showing off her glitter lip gloss, singing a song about a fish and doing her duck craft.

Of course we have been swimming pretty much everyday too except for Monday of course.  Man Tues it was VERY cold!!!!  Maddie has been getting pretty close to putting her face in the water too.  She does blow bubbles though, has been doing that for awhile now.  She is finally using her tube floatie too and doing pretty well.  She dog paddles with it and tries to use her arms to 'swim'.  She is so proud of herself and so are we!

Today we are also going to have a friend of mine and her 3 girls over for a cookout and swim party!  Hope the weather stays nice and that Maddie is good and doesn't yell and cry when they leave.

I'm sorry if the blog has been a little messed up lately.  As you have figured out by now I don't like regular fonts and I love to be able to personalize everything!  If any of you think the fonts on the sidebars are too much let me know.  Been worried about that.  I am going back and forth from liking it to not liking and wanting to just delete them.  Mom was saying the banner up top was hard to read and I know it is but I just don't want to fix it right now.  I will work on it some more later and see what I can come up with that half way matches the rest of the blog.  Leaving the pic of Mad on it though!  Love that picture of her! (just changed it to the one I had before I put it in the frame)

Think that is about all my rambling for now.  Can't really think of much else but of course I'll be in bed tonight thinking of all sorts of stuff!  Friday she gets to go stay the weekend with her grandparents!!  Yea for both of us!

What a long week (and lots of pics)

My husband has been on vacation this week and so that means we have been doing a lot of stuff. Monday we had a great time cooking out at a friends house and then Maddie had her first sleep over with a friend that night. She came home on Tues and we headed out to visit with her great grandma. That is about a hour and half drive so of course she feel asleep on the way there and then on the way back. She had a great time visiting with great g'ma and we decided to go up to the farm house and take some pictures. There are some really cute ones!

Today we went up to the library for Story Time and Emily and her sister Presley came back home with us after that. Then we played here for a bit and went back up to the library for the Critter Tales. They had a guy there with some cute little animals. They really enjoyed that. Came home and swam for an hour and then had a sorbet break then back in the pool for about 2 more hours! They wore me out today!!

Em is staying the night here tonight, which is Maddie first time having someone stay over here. It went pretty well. Maddie was getting a little cranky about having to share stuff though and I had to keep reminding her that when you have guests over you need be nice and share your stuff with them. I think she has just been going so much the last couple days that she was so tired too. She finally crawled up on Shane's lap and feel asleep around 9:30p so both girls were in bed shortly after that. I am seriously thinking about heading there myself!

Tomorrow is going to be interesting too. More pool time and then we will have to take Em home and I know Mad is going to be throwing a fit about not getting to stay or not having Em come home with us. I really need to get this house clean, being off schedule and going so much I haven't really had a chance.

Here's some cute little pictures for everyone.

Another great Story Time

Pin It We went to Story Time today and Ms. Sam read the cutest book called Giggle Giggle Quack by Doreen Cronin.  It is a really cute and fun book.  Last week she had read the Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type book.  That one is really cute too.  Books about some wild and crazy farm animals that play with the poor farmer and the farmers helpers trying to make them do extra things for them.  Getting them electric blankets, pizza, other funny stuff like that.  The kids just loved the book.  Last week they made marshmallow cows and pigs with chocolate to put spots on them and this week they made a cute little duck hat.  Ms. Sam always comes up with some cute ideas!!  The Guthrie Public Library is always doing fun things for the kids of all ages!!
Not the best picture, didn't remember to take my camera and just used my phone.  Forgot it was set on cloudy.  :(

For Dr. Seuss's Birthday and the librarian that does Story Time, her's is on Sat, The Cat in the Hat came to read to the kiddos today!  The kids thought it was so neat!  (Well, one had a little bit of a melt down)  He read to them and let them take a picture with him.  Was a lot of fun!  We made a hat like the Cat in the Hat wears, Maddie wouldn't wear here of course, and then they passed out cupcakes and balloons!  Lots of fun!

Some girl really liked Maddie's giraffe and was trying to take it.  lol  Poor Maddie gave her a look and said, "That's MINE!"  It was all good, they still set by each other and held hands later but Maddie had the giraffe on the other side of her.  lol

Forgot about yesterday....

Totally forgot about how wild yesterday was.  Not really wild but we did a lot.  Mad woke up a little before 6a, ugh!, and so I was kind of a zombie for part of the morning.  Did manage to make some blueberry muffins without an injury or burning them.  Then around 9:30a or so we headed out to give the truck a drink, as Mad says, then went to the library for Story Time.  After the story they played a cute little game with a kleenex box that had an alligator face taped to the opening with its mouth over the whole and some makeshift bean bags.  After the kids threw them for a bit they started leaking all over since the ziplock broke. So I decided to make them some new ones. But before that we went to Walgreens to get my pic order and two older men saw Maddie and were saying how cute she was.  One man was reaching in his pocket and told Maddie she could have both quarters if she could tell him how many he had.  lol  I felt bad but was afraid to say anything since it might have hurt their feelings if she didn't take it.  Sooo... she got 50 cents yesterday!  Went to Dollar Store to get the beans for the bags and Maddie got to spend her money on some chocolate!  Her fav.  Can't say that I blame her, it's mine too!  lol
Back at the house, I found some scrap material and I used one ugly color to make a bag to fit inside the prettier bags incase they leak hopefully it wouldn't leak too bad.  So I made 8 bean bags which was really 16 since I double bagged them.  Then I stitched around the edges, which was a little difficult with the fuller ones, so hopefully it would help it not leak.  Made 4 for the library and 4 for Mad.  She loves them an uses her old Easter bucket to throw them in.  Had to stick velcro on the bottom so it would stick to the rug and not flip over everytime you threw one in.  She loves it and has a blast!!  Something to keep her entertained on the cold and wet day.

Yeah we're still in PJ's! (from this morning) Wasn't going anywhere today so why bother?  lol

I also scrubbed the kitchen floor with a scrubby on my hands and knees.  It really needed it.  Maddie of course wanted to help so I made her take off her pants, lol, since she was wearing decent ones from the library.  I didn't want her getting them all wet and nasty.  She helped scrub and clean it.  Maddie said she was  'A great helper' and yes she was!
So with all of that I figured she would be worn out but while I was making a heat pack from the left over beans, she decided to grab my diet coke and had drank half the can!  Then she was running around all crazy!  Figures on Shane's night to put her to bed she was already in bed and almost asleep!  I wear her out on Weds because there have been several she has just passed out but hardly ever when it is my turn and then she usually throws a fit! lol  Maybe she will be worn out today.  Still shooting for a nap today, only 2nd of this week, so prob won't pass out tonight. :(  Here's the silly little girl after getting my pop!
