Handmade sidewalk chalk

005

I was on Pinterest the other day, shocking I know, and I was searching for some fun stuff to do during Spring Break.  I found this wonderful recipe Cornstarch Sidewalk Paint and I thought that would be so much fun!  So… went and checked my cabinets and I did have some cornstarch but only a few tablespoons so I will have to try that one later.  (yes I got some more cornstarch)  I found this other recipe for Crushed Chalk Paint so we went searching for our old pieces of chalk.  Only found a few but it worked.  She really had fun.  Can’t wait to make the other one so she can have a lot of colors to choose from!

Mad Faces

Pic is from Ruffles and Stuff

I found this wonderful idea by Ruffles and Stuff on Pinterest and I just had to do it.  I should have made it a little bigger but she likes it how it is now too.  I just might make a bigger one later.  Anywho… here’s the wonderful little Face Pillow that we came up with!  She just loves it, and it was perfect for a rainy day like today!

She had such a blast and made so many faces!  Hope she will continue to play with it!

‘Bear’foot

Mad was sitting in the living room and she looked at me and said, “I know!”  I said, ‘huh?’  Then she told me her wonderful idea… “You can trace my foot, cut it out, and I can make it into a bear!”  She was so excited and I was so shocked that she came up with the idea.  It turned out pretty cute!  The only thing I did was cut out the foot and she cut out everything else that she put on it.  I think she did a great job!  Of course, before I got to look for the glue stick, she got out the regular glue and went a little crazy but that’s life!

Here’s her Bear foot

My lil’ Angel

For the past few years, since Maddie was almost 1 we have been making these little angels with her hands and feet and a photo.  I can’t believe how big her hands and her feet have gotten!  It was nice finding the older ones we did when I got things out for the tree and remembered we hadn’t made one yet for this year so we made a new one.  Here a few pictures of her little angels.  She is born in January so the first one we did she was just a month shy of being one year.  They are so cute!!

We just traced her foot and her hands, cut them out and then used glitter glue to rub glue all over them and then glued them together.  Picked out a photo with a decent size of her face and then printed it out and cut that out to add to it.  These will be great to look back on.  Not sure how many more years we will do it but I will try to continue to do them for as long as she will let me!  Winking smile

Oh and the little red ornament in the top left hand side was from when she was 1 or 2, so bad I can’t remember, but we just painted her hand white and kinda wrapped her hand around it and then used a permanent marker to add eyes and a mough to make it look like snowmen.

Tiny Hands Turkey shirt

I have been wanting to make Mad a turkey shirt for awhile now and I have seen some really cute designs but then I ran across the Tiny Hands Turkey Applique over at Treasures for Tots and I loved that idea!  How simple!  I do this with construction paper with her so why not do it on a shirt?  I have been stocking up on t-shirts from our grocery store.  This weekend they had them 2/$1 so I had to get a few more.  Some of them have a little hole in it or a small stain but that can easily be covered up!
Here is our cute little Turkey hand shirt.

After using the heat and bond to put everything on I decided to stitch around it to help keep it from coming off.  I just did a normal stitch and this way when I was it and dry it and it frays some it will have that ‘feathery’ look.  lol  Good thing that’s the style now!
Wanna know what I did with the scraps from her hand print?  Come back tomorrow and check it out!

Discipline Chart

Pin It I saw this cute little idea over at A Girl and Her Glue Gun I thought it was a great idea so I thought I would give it a shot.  It’s been working out pretty well.  Not pictured is a clothes pin with her name on it so that she knows it is hers.  That's how you know if she is in trouble or happy.  I have one too.  Had to be fair! =)  She likes it and really tries her best to make sure that clothes pin only moves up!!

Go fish!

Pin It Maddie and I have been cleaning up the craft area and some of her other stuff and she found a green lei she had.  She was so happy she found it but then she played with it until she ripped it apart!  I swear she should have been a boy as since she is always tearing things up!!
The pieces of the lei on the floor gave me the idea to make her a little fish bowl.  I just cut it out of some foam we had and then used some, as she calls them, 'under the sea' stickers. It turned out pretty cute! Now she wants to watch Nemo but I can't find the darn thing! So glad we got Netflix and can watch it instantly!

Another wonderful Story Time

Pin It Went to the library for another Story Time today.  Maddie did really well again and dressed fairly normal.  They read a cute little book about elephants and the craft they did was an elephant mask.  They all turned out so cute!

On our way....

Crafty Tuesday

Pin It Since I have been doing this very week I figured I would start my own meme.  Crafty Tuesday!  This meme is for crafts that you have done, or for anything that you find that you want to share or do later on.  Jump on in and join us!!

Here is the button, you can copy and paste the code from the sidebar and add it to your post or leave a link back please.  (this is also the first time trying out Linky Tools so I hope it will go well.)

This week I found a little t-shirt that our grocery store had on sale for 99 cents.  It's a boy's shirt but who cares!?!   Maddie really had a great time just painting whatever she wanted to on it.  Some of the things she did on her own but I helped her with the butterfly, heart and sun.  Oh, and of course there is some obvious stuff on it that I did.
She got to pick out what colors she wanted and I even have some glow in the dark fabric paint that she used too.  Maybe later I can see if we can get a pic of it glowing in the dark but not sure how that will go..

ABC project

Pin It Here is the ABC project that I mentioned on my post What a Great Monday! but for the life of me I can't remember now where I saw it.  =(  This was not my idea but came from another crafty blogger.  I didn't take pictures of all the steps we did but here is basically what we did.

  • cut out some card stock, whatever shape you want
  • wrote all the ABC in capital on them
  • searched through magazines and found the letters and cut them out then Mad helped me glue them on

She really enjoyed searching for the letters even though she didn't get them all right she still had fun and loved picking out the ones to use.  We are also going to do this in small letters and when she gets better at them then we can do a memory game with them and have her match them up.  Right now I just lay them out and ask for a letter and she picks it out.  Usually, depends on what kind of day she is having.  Might just lay the capital and small letters out and have her match it that way instead of having to remember where all 52 are!  I wouldn't be able to do that!!!

Crafty Day!

Pin It Ok, so it rained all day yesterday, everything is a soggy mess!  The flood sirens even went off but I didn't go see if it was actually flooded.  Highway 33 which turns into our main road through town is where it will flood.  No fun, just glad we don't really have to go anywhere.   Here's a link for a video of some of the flooding Videos | NewsOK.com - Oklahoma flood video: Edmond

Since it rained so much we didn't go to craft time at the library or go anywhere else.  We just stayed home and did some crafts.  Maddie loves to sew so I gave her some scrap material and a needle. She made some cute little flowers and a scarf. She did a great job!!

She decided to draw some pictures today and then she started marking on my face! This time I didn't care and let her draw away then I decided to draw on hers. Then we made some hand print fish, I wasn't about to let her put all that paint on my face! Anyways here are the fish she made, some rainbow fish and then some other really colorful ones. She did a pretty good job! She has always been pretty crafty but here lately she is really surprising me with some of the stuff she comes up with.

Here are the rings I finally did.  I only got 3 ring blanks (ordered more off ebay, much cheaper) so this is all I have for now.  Maddie didn't want to use the button she had picked out instead she wanted to use her stick on earring that wouldn't stick to her ears anymore.  It was a little small but that is what she wanted.  Sorry the pictures aren't better.  Here is the link to my post that has the tutorial link in it.  Cute Button Rings
I think I one of my buttons is actually like the one in the pic from the link above.  =)
