I'm still alive

I just thought I would hop on here and make a quick little post and let you all know that I am still alive and well.

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Mad has turned 7 this past January and is doing great in school!  She is growing up so fast and is turning into a smart, beautiful young lady.  She is still loving school and loves the teachers and the kids at school and daycare.  I am still working but now I work from 11a-8p, which is a lot better than the 2p-11p that I was doing before.  I get to be home in the evening and check Mad's homework, spend a little time with her and tuck her into bed.  I also get to spend more time with the hubby too, which is a wonderful thing!

Here's a few pictures of Miss Mad since the last post.

So proud of this little girl!!

Crochet Doll Clothes

Maddie’s been begging for an American Doll for a while now.  She said she was going to ask Santa for one for Christmas.  I told her if she did that might be the only thing she got.  She was fine with that.  Then one day we were walking through Wal-mart and she saw the My Life dolls and thought that they were the same thing as the American Doll.  That was fine with us!  So my husband decided to get her one with an agreement that it take two of her allowances to help pay for it.  She agreed and picked out her doll.

She asked me to make her some clothes for her.  I didn’t feel like sewing so on Sunday she picked out a top, a skirt, a headband and some boots for me to make.

Then I didn’t care for how short I made the skirt so I could have added a round or two but since she has no under pants I decided to turn them into shorts until I can get some under clothes made for her.

There are a ton of cute little clothes out there for 18” dolls.  Also a bunch of cute ones just to buy if you don’t want to make them.  The ones at Wal-mart for the My Life dolls are only $10 an outfit and the little shoes are only $2 so sometimes its just cheaper and easier to buy them.

Here’s a link to my Pinterest board for doll clothes.

The latest

Well things have been going pretty well lately.  Maddie turned 6 on the 6th of January.  I can’t believe how much she has grown and how the time has flown by!!

We’ve rediscovered Shrinky Dinks, which now also go by Shrink Plastic.  On Pinterest you can find anything and everything to do with them now!  There is so many creative ideas and some pretty jewelry you can make with them.  Right now we have just been practicing.  Here are a few of the ones we have made so far.  The tree has glossy effects on it so it looks cloudy but will dry clear.  Will try to remember to get a picture of that once I make it into a necklace.  (sorry for the poor quality cell phone pics, you can click for a bigger pic)

We were at Wal-Mart the other day and my loving husband found this cute dolphin for Maddie.  Shane asked her if she wanted it and of course she said yes.  We finished coloring it up and Shane and Maddie put it together.  It’s pretty cool but is so big!  She loves it of course.

Mad’s been creating things of her own too.  She found some material we got a while back and decided to make a pillow out of it.  She did a pretty good job hand stitching it, but she did get tired of doing it and had me finish it with the machine.  She stuffed it and Shane hand stitched the hole shut.  So it is a pillow made of much love from all 3 of us!  She loves that we all had a part in helping her make it.

On the 24th Maddie didn’t feel well.  She had a temp and upset stomach but nothing much more than that.  She never really complained about her throat hurting until Friday.  I decided to take a look and immediately decided we needed to go to the After Care clinic.  She had strep.  She was such a trooper and never complained about her throat hurting that much.. was so proud!  They didn’t have to do the swab test because she had it so bad and could tell just by looking.  They called in some meds and off we went!  Love the After Care Clinic!  We were only there for maybe 15 minutes!  Anytime Maddie talked to a grandparent she told them she had the ‘stress’ and strawberry tongue.  (strawberry tongue is also a sign of strep. Look closely at her tongue, it is speckled like a strawberry)

So.. since the 100 day of school was coming up, while we were waiting to get her meds from Walgreens she saw some cute little Valentine sticker books, they were 2/$1.00 so we had to get 4 of them.  Smile  We got a poster there and once we got home and settled in we decided to go ahead and make her poster for school.  Today is the day!  100 days of school already!!  WOW!  Time sure flies!!

I really need to make her a 100 day shirt.  We never celebrated this in school but seems like it is now a big thing.  lol

Today, for her 100th day of school.  Red heart

And that’s about it for now.  Thinking I will be making a trip to the clinic soon since it seems like she just might have shared her ‘stress’ with me!  Confused smile

It’s been awhile

It’s been awhile since I have written so I thought I would share some pictures.  Nothing much new is going on right now.  Still working and trying to balance work and family so I am not on the computer as much as I used to be.  Maddie starts school on Aug. 17th, she will be in Kindergarten!  Her first year of all day school!  I am going to miss seeing her in the evening and seeing what she did at school but I will have an hour lunch and see her at her supper time.  Shane is going to be the one helping her do her homework every evening so I know she will do just fine.  Guess that is what the weekends are for!

Here’s some phone pics from the last month or so.  She is growing like a weed too!!!

and this is what feel on my husbands windshield one day as he was waiting at a stoplight.  No overpass above or anything, just out in the middle of town.  The only thing we can think is maybe a bird had it in his mouth and dropped it.
