The latest

Well things have been going pretty well lately.  Maddie turned 6 on the 6th of January.  I can’t believe how much she has grown and how the time has flown by!!

We’ve rediscovered Shrinky Dinks, which now also go by Shrink Plastic.  On Pinterest you can find anything and everything to do with them now!  There is so many creative ideas and some pretty jewelry you can make with them.  Right now we have just been practicing.  Here are a few of the ones we have made so far.  The tree has glossy effects on it so it looks cloudy but will dry clear.  Will try to remember to get a picture of that once I make it into a necklace.  (sorry for the poor quality cell phone pics, you can click for a bigger pic)

We were at Wal-Mart the other day and my loving husband found this cute dolphin for Maddie.  Shane asked her if she wanted it and of course she said yes.  We finished coloring it up and Shane and Maddie put it together.  It’s pretty cool but is so big!  She loves it of course.

Mad’s been creating things of her own too.  She found some material we got a while back and decided to make a pillow out of it.  She did a pretty good job hand stitching it, but she did get tired of doing it and had me finish it with the machine.  She stuffed it and Shane hand stitched the hole shut.  So it is a pillow made of much love from all 3 of us!  She loves that we all had a part in helping her make it.

On the 24th Maddie didn’t feel well.  She had a temp and upset stomach but nothing much more than that.  She never really complained about her throat hurting until Friday.  I decided to take a look and immediately decided we needed to go to the After Care clinic.  She had strep.  She was such a trooper and never complained about her throat hurting that much.. was so proud!  They didn’t have to do the swab test because she had it so bad and could tell just by looking.  They called in some meds and off we went!  Love the After Care Clinic!  We were only there for maybe 15 minutes!  Anytime Maddie talked to a grandparent she told them she had the ‘stress’ and strawberry tongue.  (strawberry tongue is also a sign of strep. Look closely at her tongue, it is speckled like a strawberry)

So.. since the 100 day of school was coming up, while we were waiting to get her meds from Walgreens she saw some cute little Valentine sticker books, they were 2/$1.00 so we had to get 4 of them.  Smile  We got a poster there and once we got home and settled in we decided to go ahead and make her poster for school.  Today is the day!  100 days of school already!!  WOW!  Time sure flies!!

I really need to make her a 100 day shirt.  We never celebrated this in school but seems like it is now a big thing.  lol

Today, for her 100th day of school.  Red heart

And that’s about it for now.  Thinking I will be making a trip to the clinic soon since it seems like she just might have shared her ‘stress’ with me!  Confused smile

Thankful Turkey

Everyone has been doing this, and since Thanksgiving is coming up of course we join in as well.  It is a good way to count your blessings, everyday, to remember and be thankful for what you have.  Maddie and I made a turkey out of paper plates and then she colored some feathers, which I made a little too big, and everyday, she either writes it herself or has me write it for her, she says what she is thankful for.

The second pic isn’t the best because she took it with my phone but here it is!  She has so much fun doing it everyday!

I don’t even remember where we found it but it wasn’t my original idea.

I Love Amigurumi!

but I just can’t pronounce it!!
I’ve been making a lot of little critters lately and try to make one everyday.  Of course Mad helps out by picking the pattern and the name for them.  Smile  I’ve even sold a few and have some orders for more!  Would love to put some on Etsy but right now I have enough orders to deal with (not complaining about that at all!  Thanks to all that have ordered!) and need to get a decent supply of animals going too.

I love to crochet but every time I start crocheting for a while I get a ganglion cyst on my wrist.  Sometimes it hurts, sometimes it doesn’t.  It just gets bigger until I stop but right now I can’t stop!  Plus I keep finding new things I want to make!!

Here’s a picture of my cyst, not the best picture but the best I could get. (you can click the picture for a bigger view)

My God Can!

DSC_0044

picture is from Impress Your Kids

I came across this cute little idea over at Impress Your Kids. She has this really great project to do for your little one when they are afraid to go to sleep.  I think I will be trying this one out for Ms. Maddie.

The idea of this is that “God Can” and using scriptures that will show them that God can and will protect them.  They look for items that go with the scriptures they hunt up too so your child could always look at them when they are scared, or anytime, as reminders of His promises to us!

Go check out her post and read more about it!

Crafty Tuesday

Welcome to Crafty Tuesday!  Crafty Tuesday is to share with others your craftiness, either with things you have made (craftiness or baking because that’s crafty too!) little ideas on fun things with the kids or something cute you have found that you would like to make!  Please feel free to link up and take the button in the sidebar on the right hand side!  Thanks!!!

This week I just did another 2x4 project.  I think it turned out pretty well but Shane said he can’t tell what it says.  I think its just a guy thing because all my friend and mom could tell what it says!
I love the pictures that are made with the photos of nature that make letters, so I just did a google search for alphabet photography and looked up some images.  Then I just made this up and then printed it and mod podged it on the 2x4

IT says Grace
My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.  2 Corinthians 12:9

The Christmas Tree behind it I did last year.  It was a pain!!  lol  Just a cone, tissue paper and a glue gun.  Cut some tissue paper into little squares and then hot glue it on.  Have fun!
